Getting our Christmas on!

Getting our Christmas on is a weird way to restart my blog, but if I don't do it, it will never happen.

So remember this little guy? He isn't so little anymore. He is doing great. We consider him a true miracle. He is a piece of heaven on earth. He is still always happy, and never complains. In fact the only time he really cries is when his brothers and sister are getting scolded. Bless his heart. He hasn't been in the hospital for over a year! He still gets sick sometimes, but we are able to keep him home with all of the equipment he needs. Though that means more work for us, it is so much better to have him home! He is talking a lot! He is sweet, funny and precious and we all feel lucky to have him.

But enough about that let's get onto the important stuff, like shopping! Joe and I got our Christmas on this weekend, big time. Which for us means lots of Christmas shopping. Some people hate shopping, that would not be us. We LOVE Christmas shopping, especially for our kids. We went to Blickenstaff's, that toy store at the Riverwoods, and marveled at all the old-fashioned tin toys. We want them all because they are just so cool. We got some stocking stuffers, because everything else there is too darn expensive, then we saw these beauties.

Every once in a while we come across cheapy mood rings and of course we have to get them to make sure we know what mood we are in! Then we get the little paper that explains each color. Joe was "happy"all day. I was mostly "alert" and "active" , but I think the ring was a little off because I was happy too. It may have been because we found these air horns at the dollar store.

So of course we bought one and blew it out the window of our van at obnoxious teenagers, and sometimes couples running to their cars in the cold. So rude, but so funny. Then Joe came across this not so little gem at Ross.

He approached me cautiously, asking me to have an open mind. When I saw it, I knew he had to have it for his office. You see, he is obsessed with these Buddha heads.

We saw this one too. When I told him he should get both, (because when are we ever going to find giant white Buddha heads again) he almost cried. I don't know if he has ever been so excited about a present. At the check out he said he couldn't wait until after Christmas to put them in his office, I said "Why wait? It's not like I want to wrap two giant glass heads." He took them to work today.

The weekend ended with us drinking sparkling grape juice and watching our favorite Christmas movie "The Bishop's Wife". And while we wiped away a few tears, because the movie is that good, we made doll clothes. What? Yes doll clothes. Because doll clothes are so trampy and expensive! Why not make your own with leftover scraps of material. Like this:

Or this:
Then Joe made this fabulous jumpsuit out of a glove. Jumpsuits are all the rage. I would never wear one, but look at how Frankie pulls it off!

Plus you can put a funky skirt over it, and then you have a cowl neck sweater and leggings. What could be better?

And that is how we get our Christmas on! Merry Christmas!
